
Sugar Pumpkin -Banana Weaning Puree for babies
Variety of weaning recipes could be made from sweet pumpkin. The frequent use of pumpkin in weaning recipes is beacuse of its high nutritious value. Pumpkin is a rich source of essential vitamins, minerals, proteins which are must for a baby food.
Following recipe “Pumpkin -Banana Weaning Puree” is made from banana and sugar pumpkin puree. This could be one of very first foods for babies i.e. could be given to babies from 6 months onwards. This recipe could be prepared from baking the pumpkins or steaming them. However, baking is the best option.
Ingredients:
- 1 small sweet pumpkin
- 1 Banana
- Breast or formula milk (Optional)
- Water
Method:
Preheat oven at 375 deg F.
Cut the pumpkin into two halves and de-seed it. Now, bake the de-seeded pumpkin halves in a baking pan (fill water up to 2 inches in the baking pan & put halves facing down towards the bottom of baking pan). Let it bake for about 45 minutes to an hour, until pumpkin is tender and its outer skin is puckrey. When done, remove the skin and set aside.
Now, cut the banana into small chunks. Place skinless baked pumpkin and banana in a blender and puree it. Add water, breast or formula milk as per desired consistency.
Pumpkin -Banana weaning puree is ready. Serve your growing baby with this amazing weaning recipe.
