
Salmon Weaning Recipe with Cheese Sauce and Vegetables
Fish is an important part of your baby’s diet and an excellent addition to your baby’s weaning recipes. As fish is a rich source of omega-3 oils, it is important to include it in your child’s diet as it helps to develop the brain for a sharper focus and mental growth. This salmon weaning recipe is healthy and full of essential nutrients.
Ingredients:
- 1 Salmon fillet skin and bones removed
- 200ml milk
- 1 onion finely chopped
- 1 carrot finely diced
- 1 yellow bell pepper, deseeded and finely chopped
- 1 tbsp grated cheddar cheese
- 20g butter
- 20g flour
- 1 bay leaf
- A few sprigs of parsley finely chopped
- A pinch of freshly ground pepper
Procedure:
In a saucepan, put in the fish fillet along with the diced carrot, bell pepper, bay leaf and half the milk and cook for 20 minutes or until the fish fillet is tender and the vegetables are cooked. Now in another sauce pan prepare the cream sauce.
Heat some butter in the sauce pan and as soon as it begins to bubble add the chopped onion and sauté till soft. As you stir add the flour and turn for a minute. Remove from stove and add the remaining milk stirring all the time. Put back on stove and add the chopped parsley and ground pepper. Cook till the sauce thickens.
Remove from stove and slowly add the grated cheese and stir till it blends into the mixture well. Pour the sauce over the fish and allow to cool on the counter for 10 minutes. Once the mixture is cool, place in a blender or food processor and make a fine paste. Use the amount you want to feed your baby and preserve the rest in the refrigerator for another day.
