
Homemade Weaning Apple Puree for Babies
Fruits and vegetable purees are considered as one of best first foods for babies right from starting of weaning process. Variety of simple recipes are there to prepare homemade baby food purees, the most popular purees are using banana, papaya, apples, peaches and avocado.
The following recipe is “apple puree” which could be used as one of the early weaning recipes in the very first stage of weaning i.e. from 6 months onwards.
Apples are very rich source of essential vitamins, folate and minerals thus it is very healthy and nutritious first food for your growing infant. At the later stages of weaning, little bit of cinnamon could also be added with apples to add some new flavour but you need to ask your pediatrician before using cinnamon in your baby food.
Ingredients:
- 2 medium sized fresh apples (preferred Fuji, Gala, Braeburn or Macintosh apples)
- Water
- Breast or formula milk
Method:
First peel the apples and cut it into thin slices. Now, heat a non stick saucepan over low-medium heat and place the apples and water into it. Just add amount of water sufficient enough to slightly cover the apples.
Bring water to boil and allow apples to cook until becomes tender. When apples are done, turn off the heat.
Next, remove just apples and leave extra water in the pan itself, if any. Puree the apples using a hand or electric blender. Add some breast milk / formula milk or remaining water in the pan and prepare puree as per desired consistency.
Apple puree is ready. feed your infant with this tasty and nutritious first food.
