A Pureed Apricot, Apple and Pear Sauce
Weaning your baby is very important when your baby reaches a certain age, which is most commonly at the age 6 months. Although the home visitor or the GP will tell you when to start this process and what kinds of foods you may introduce to your little angel, you can look up some weaning recipes for 6 month old babies to help you add variations to the meals and develop your baby’s taste buds.
Here is a fine weaning recipe that is easy and quick to prepare and even stores in the freezer. Since these fruits have a distinctive taste, your baby will make the minimum amount of fuss eating it.
Ingredients:
- 2 cooking apples
- 1 pear
- 2-3 large Apricots
- Two cups water for cooking
Procedure:
Peel and de-seed the fruits and chop up into bite-sized pieces. In a heavy-based saucepan, pour two cups of water and bring to the boil. Put in the cut fruits and allow to boil for 10 minutes or until the fruits are soft and pulpy. You could also put in a pinch of cinnamon powder freshly ground to add more flavour to this weaning recipe. Allow to cool and then blend in a mixer or in a hand blender until the fruits blend into a creamy sauce. Make sure that the sauce is neither too thin nor very thick.
Once the sauce is ready, you can store it in the refrigerator and use when required. This recipe makes for four servings, so you use it for four different meals, but remember not to give the same sauce for every meal until it gets over because this will deter your baby from having it again. So good luck with the weaning and do look out for more weaning recipes for your baby.
