Roasted Mutton Recipe

Lamb provides high levels of zinc and iron. Iron is vital for the formation of red blood cells. Zinc is essential for growth, healing and a healthy immune system. The zinc and iron found in lamb, and mutton is more easily absorbed than from other sources. Lamb is a great sauce of high quality protein. Half the fat in lamb is unsaturated which is good for you.

Lamb is a good source of B Vitamins (B 12), essential for metabolic reactions in the body.Lamb contains trace elements such as copper, manganese and selenium.

This is one of the delicious mutton recipes cooked with onion, chili and turmeric powder.

Ingredients for Roasted Mutton Recipe

  • 500gms mutton
  • 4 onions
  • ½ tsp chili powder- according to taste
  • 2 green chilies
  • ¼ tsp turmeric powder
  • ½ tsp salt- according to taste
  • 10 gm saffron
  • 2 tsp ghee / refined oil
  • 1 lemon
  • ½ tsp ginger paste
  • ½ tsp garlic paste
  • Finely chopped coriander leaves

Method for Roasted Mutton Recipe

Wash the mutton pieces well and drain it well. In a bowl, add lemon juice, saffron, salt and chili powder to mutton. Mix it well. Marinate for one hour. Grease mutton pieces with 10-15 gm of oil or ghee and place it in microwave oven in a baking dish. Bake it for 4 minutes.

Heat oil in a pan. Add the finely chopped two onions and fry it well till it gets brownish. Add the baked mutton pieces and roast it well for 10-12 minutes at low heat. Now add the rest of two onions and green chilies finely chopped. Roast it for another ten minutes. Garnish it with finely chopped coriander leaves. Serve it hot with Roomali Roti. A delicious roasted mutton is ready!
