Healthy food for babies
When your baby reaches 6 months, or even a little earlier you should begin to propose other food then milk. What food to chose, how much should your baby eat during the day, should you prepare by yourself or it is agreeable to buy ready meals in the store – all these questions will come. To ensure your baby rational and healthy foods keep in mind some advices.
The first is to stick to the recommended menu. In the age of 9-10 months your baby should get every day these quantities of products: vegetables – 200 grams, fruits – 50-100 grams, meat – 50 grams, cereal – 200 grams, curds – 50 grams. Two times a week he should get a half of egg yolk. Also should be added 3 grams of olive oil and 3 grams of bread.
Such or something like this recommendations are given in health books, on parenting web sites and others. They are approximate. You should follow these schemes after a consultation with you baby health care specialist. If your baby does not wish to eat all products, that he should, do not make him. May be next time he will eat with pleasure.
Researches have shown that if the baby has the possibility to choose by himself how much and what exactly to eat, he is able to get all needed proteins, fats and carbohydrates as well as vitamins and minerals. This however works only if there is a good choice and the baby hasn’t any unhealthy food habits.
Your aim is to ensure him the best possible choice of quality products. It is perfect, if you have the possibility to farm your own vegetables and fruits. This would be the best way to make sure there were not used some unhealthy pesticides, while the products were growing.
The good choice can be made also on some country market places. Try to get personal contact with provider, as where and how were cultivated the fruits and vegetables.
But if you have to buy the vegetables on the supermarket, you should be more careful. Get all possible information on how these products were cultivated. Prefer the products with marks that confirm their organic purity. May be the best choice would be to buy the ready food for babies. It passes strict control for its safety. But meanwhile you should pay your attention to the information on the package.
Read all information of the content, where it was made, when, which preservatives were used. In ideal the package should not include anything except the product itself. No salt, sugar or any food colorants, flavor enhancers or others such things. For example if you buy pumpkin, the composition should include: pumpkin, water.
The best option for any mum is to cook healthy baby recipes at home. A growing baby needs healthy and nutritious food which is cooked at home.
And the last advice would be to give your baby a good example by yourself. If you will eat only hamburgers and pizza, your child won’t believe perhaps, that his soup of vegetable marrow and broccoli is something eatable. When offering some food to him never show such attitude as “I would never eat this by myself!”
